Teacher Job Sites...

If you are currently looking for a teacher position for the coming 2011-2012 school year, I wanted to let you aware of a few sites that post available teacher jobs.

Teachers-Teachers, http://www.teachers-teachers.com/ is the best site I know of for posting teacher jobs available. You just sign up and put in your credentials, what you're looking for and they will send you available jobs when they turn up. It's my favorite site for teacher jobs.

Craigslist, my next favorite site is Craigslist.org, http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/edu/, you can first pick the location you're in and then go into the education section and they will list the available jobs people have listed for teaching.

You also, have your school district's website that lists available job in your school district.

If you teachers have a favorite site or place you look for jobs, please comment here letting us know where you go to look!

This may sound weird to some of you, but I actually enjoy looking for jobs for people, and am offering my job searching services for any teachers in the market for a teaching position this coming fall or summer, even. Please just email me at utahteachersmarket@gmail.com and let me know what you're interested in, location, full or part time, and anything else that would help me look for jobs you might be interested in. I am offering this as a free service, too.

Inviting you to my Coupon Blog

Teachers,

With summer right around the corner, I thought it might be a fun idea for those of you who coupon or those who want to learn to coupon to start a coupon blog where we could exchange coupons (not all of us need dog food coupons, baby coupons, etc.) exchange frustrations with couponing and solutions to our coupon frustrations and tips we have found with couponing.
I know you are very busy people, but summer you have a little more time to do the extra things, so you might want to take up the coupon challenge, so that when school time comes in the fall you have a system down and can devote what time you have to couponing. The benefits to couponing:
  • cut our grocery bills by 50%-70%; which means you'll have more money to spend on teacher/classroom supplies!
  • get our stockpiles (6mos. food storage) in order
  • become more budget, price match savvy!
  • more money in our bank accounts without the pay raise!
Feel free to comment any ideas and tips you have with couponing! My site is Couponing with a Purpose, http://couponwithpurpose.blogspot.com, so please join me!

Walmart has coupons now!!!

I thought I would share with you a little tip I have learned as I am becoming coupon-savvy! Walmart has a price match policy which means if Walmart is selling their yogurt for .50 cents each and you notice another local store has them on sale for .40 each, if you bring in your ad and show them they are .40 cents here, they will sell you their yogurts for .40 each. On top of that you can use coupons! I always have coupons for yogurt, too! Now, I see that Walmart has coupons on their site you can print off! How cool is that?

I know pricematching can be intimidating in the beginning, but once you start, it gets easier and you can save a ton.

With summer coming up, you may have a little more free time that you can get into couponing. 2-3 mos. is perfect to get into the swing of it, as I know it does take a lot of planning and time, but once you get into it, you get faster and will save a lot in the long run!

Safety Rules

With summer approaching and warm weather here, it might be a good idea to discuss or review basic safety rules with your students. These rules and book suggestions come from Schooldays April/May/June 1996; If you would like me to email you this list to make copies for your students to go over, I would be more than happy to get it to you.

Their rules include:
  • Know your address and phone number and how to spell your parents' first and last names
  • Don't go near an unfamiliar car or anywhere with a stranger
  • If you get lost at a store, go to the nearest person working behind a counter
  • In an emergency, find a telephone and dial 911 or 0 for the operator; stay on and listen for directions
  • Don't go places alone. Stay with a buddy
  • Wear a bright scarf or T-shirt on outings so your teacher or parents can find you in a crowd
  • When hiking, carry a whistle; if you get lost, stay where you are and blow your whistle
  • Cross streets at the corner; look left, then right, then left again before crossing
  • Your body belongs to you. If someone touches you where you wear a bathing suit, say "No!"
  • Never touch another person's blood. If a friend has a cut or bloody nose, give him a tissue and go to an adult for help
  • Don't go barefoot! Wear shoes!
  • Never swim alone. Wear sunscreen and walk around pools.
  • Use common sense!
Some books to go along with the discussion:
The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers by Stan and Jan Berenstain
Not My Child! by Jan Wagner
Try It Again, Sam: Safety When You Walk by Judith Viorst

More to come...

Wow, thanks for the following...

Teachers,

I want to thank everyone for joining my blog and I hope to be of some help for you in hunting teacher supply deals. A special thank you goes to Jena Snowden for doing a blog post on my blog and website. That got me excited. I am located in Utah, so most of my deals right now are for Utah, but I will be looking for deals all over, as well as online, so all of you will benefit.

Please feel free to join me on facebook, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Teachers-Market/171179892923456 and/or twitter http://twitter.com/#!/teachers_market if you'd like.

Also, I know since the school year is quickly coming to a close, you may have supplies you no longer need, so please email me at utahteachersmarket@gmail.com if you have supplies to sell, buy or donate. If you know of other teachers that could benefit from my site, please spread the word, particularly retired teachers. I also have two questions for you: 1. What do you usually do with your supplies at the end of the year? 2. Where do you usually purchase your teacher supplies? If you have a second to answer these questions, that would be great! Thanks! You can also just post your supplies yourselves on my website, too, in the market section at http://www.myteachersmarket.com.

Thanks again for the following and I look forward to working with you and reading your great ideas and lesson plans!
