I have a "sharp" and "need sharpened" bucket on my desk. The sharp bucket contains about 25 sharpened pencils, to which the students drop their pencil in the need sharpened bucket and grab a new one out of the already sharpened bucket. Works wonderful. No sharpeners going off during the day! Then, at the end of the day, I sharpen all the pencils in the need sharpened pencils bucket.
